Naxalbari Before and After

Naxalbari held out a promise – the promise of the liberation of our people from oppression and exploitation. That promise is yet to be fulfilled. However long and tortuous the path may be, revolution shall triumph at a date distant or near and the promise will be redeemed. Our allegiances not to individuals but to the cause – the cause of the liberation of the Indian people. So our reverence for our leaders is not deeds, their shortcomings, and limitations; rather, we shall expose them fully without sparing anybody’s sensibilities. While criticizing the wrong policies of our leaders, we are making our own self-criticism. ‘ In the past, said Mao Tsetung, ‘deviation arose because the people had no experience. Without experience, it is hard to avoid mistakes. From inexperience to experience, one must go through a process.’
